Jesus preaching in Hades: 1 Peter 3:18-20, 1 Cor. 10:4

"They tasted of that Rock, Christ Jesus who came after them:"

This is Part Six of a continued study of Calvary and the two days that followed His death by crucifixion. So to understand this blog, you will need to scroll down and read parts 1-5 of this subject. This lesson opens with my imagination of Judas approaching Jesus in Hades. If you remember Judas committed suicide before Jesus died; over betraying Jesus and therefore his spirit was in Hades.

I can imagine; Judas throwing himself down at Jesus feet weeping from the moment Jesus started preaching. As Jesus made his final statements, I can see him reaching down and lifting Judas up and holding him in his arms:

" Judas, my disciple, I love you and I forgave you the moment, Satan used you, and you betrayed me, I prayed for you as I prayed for the Roman soldiers and all who hurt me and rejected me, ‘Father forgive them, for they know not what they do!.’"

I know by this time, they were all kneeling and worshiped the King of Kings and Lord of Lords!

The power of the Spirit of God had filled that place and the war was on! Jesus did what he had to do.

From the teaching of Jesus:

Joh 5:22 For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son.

Joh 12:31 Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.

Joh 12:32 And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.

Joh 8:15 Ye judge after the flesh; I judge no man.

Joh 8:16 And yet if I judge, my judgment is true: for I am not alone, but I and the Father that sent me.

When did hell get its flames?

It is believed that hell actually got its flames at Calvary as the fiery of the breath of Jesus blew on it as he fulfilled prophesy and looked back one last time, before he resurrected in triumph! The day of the Lord’s vengeance was at Calvary on the Day of His Resurrection.

The following verses in Isaiah, I believe are prophesy of Jesus fighting evil in Hell and leaving it a burning pitch of fire and brimstone.

Isa 30:30 And the LORD shall cause his glorious voice to be heard, and shall shew the lighting down of his arm, with the indignation of his anger, and with the flame of a devouring fire, with scattering, and tempest, and hailstones.

Isa 30:32 And in every place where the grounded staff shall pass, which the LORD shall lay upon him, it shall be with tabrets and harps: and in battles of shaking will he fight with it.

Isa 30:33 For Tophet is ordained of old; yea, for the king it is prepared; he hath made it deep and large: the pile thereof is fire and much wood; the breath of the LORD, like a stream of brimstone, doth kindle it.

Isa 34:8 For it is the day of the LORD'S vengeance, and the year of recompences for the controversy of Zion.

Isa 34:9 And the streams thereof shall be turned into pitch, and the dust thereof into brimstone, and the land thereof shall become burning pitch.

Isa 34:10 It shall not be quenched night nor day; the smoke thereof shall go up for ever: from generation to generation it shall lie waste; none shall pass through it for ever and ever.

Mat 25:41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

He locked up many demons as he cleared the doors and burst forth into resurrection and victory, honor and Glory! Praise the Lord our Savior and our King forever more!

My mind can’t imagine the magnitude of excitement, when all of Heaven stood at attention as this great number of souls/ spirits robbed in white came up to the Throne! I know the sounds of Heaven’s Orchestra and Choirs rang out more beautiful than ever before. This was the greatest celebration, praise and worship and Awe of the Glory of God that Heaven had ever experienced.

I believe that all Angels and redeemed souls fell on their faces and worshipped God. This had to be really something, because we know that the angels rejoice in Heaven when just one soul comes into the redemption (Salvation) of Christ!

Luke 15:10 Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.

At the beginning of John’s great Vision, the Book of Revelation, given by Jesus himself and an angel assisting him. Jesus said:

Rev 1:8 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.

Rev 1:18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.

It stands to reason that the following verses in the Book of Revelation is talking about this great number that no man could number, that came up out of Great Tribulation, if this was prophesying about a future group after the rapture, it would be a number that was counted by Government censes. Bible Scholars have to admit that the Bible is not in Chronological order, and often goes back and tells details of a past event, just as future events are told through eyes of faith, (things that are not as though they were.)

Most likely, Revelation Chapters 5-7 tell some of the exciting Victorious events that took place in Heaven at the first ascension of Jesus and the souls He brought up out of Abraham’s Bosom and Hell. We will wait to make a complete study of these chapters in Book Four, of this series; which will include the Truth about God in the book of Revelation and end-time Scriptures. But I do want to look at a few verses. The book of Revelation has many symbols in it that are only discerned (understood) through the eyes of the Holy Spirit.

Rev 5:1 And I saw in the right hand of him that sat on the throne a book written within and on the backside, sealed with seven seals.

Don’t miss the next blog; it will continue Revelation Chapter 5 and some of chapter 7 and pick up Daniel 12:4.
