When did the people who died before Jesus died on the cross receive their Salvation?

When was the greatest revival of souls saved; a number that no man could number?

The following verses say that all of the Hebrews who died in the wilderness tasted of that same spiritual meat and drank of that spiritual Rock that followed after them, which was Christ Jesus.

1Co 10:1 Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;

1Co 10:2 And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea;

1Co 10:3 And did all eat the same spiritual meat;

1Co 10:4 And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.

The Children of Israel were in a rebellious sinful state while they wondered in the wilderness, but God had Love and longsuffering for them and took care of them anyway. He feed them fresh manna every day from Heaven:

Joh 6:49 Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead.

Joh 6:50 This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die.

Joh 6:51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.

At Calvary Jesus died and gave his flesh so the whole world could have Life ever- lasting.

These two groups of people; those who died in the days of Noah and the Hebrews who died in the wilderness, were mentioned as examples. It stands to reason by the Scripture that he preached the knowledge of God to the vast number who died from Adam to Calvary. It’s not God’s will that any would parish, because God has no respect of persons.

Rom 2:11 For there is no respect of persons with God.

2Pe 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

As I pondered these Scriptures about Jesus descending before he ascended, the following is my perception of the account that could have taken place when Jesus visited all the souls who died before his death:

I think, about the time that Satan was rejoicing at "the thought" that he and his demons had Jesus held captive in Hell forever and had stopped the whole plan of God’s redemption for Mankind, he got the shock of his life! When Deity God; the Holy Spirit burst through the corridors of Hell and joined back to Jesus.

Jesus fought the demonic with the two-edged sword of the Spirit (God’s Word). I can only imagine the fiery in his eyes was like fire and his voice rumbled in power and authority as He spoke the pure Truth to Lucifer!

After all, the Deity in Jesus was the Word of God who spoke the very existence (creation) of Lucifer, who disannulled God’s plans; tearing up God’s Heaven and Earth with his rebellion, envy, jealousy and hate. For Satan (Lucifer) turned God’s beautiful law of Love; the Law of Free Will and Sowing and Reaping, into the Law of Sin and Death.

Believe me all eyes were on Jesus and by this time all those in Abraham’s Bosom knew that their Messiah, whom Moses promised, had come into their mist. I’m sure Abraham, Moses, Elijah and the other great prophets of old came forward immediately to praise and honor their Messiah. Moses likely said, "This is He whom I said would come after me, and He is the One who writes the Laws on the tablets of your heart!"

Deu 18:15 The LORD thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken;

The New Testament authors preached out of the Old Testament Scriptures, their only Bible was the Old Testament:

Peter refers to Moses writing and prophesying about Jesus:

Act 3:22 For Moses truly said unto the fathers, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear in all things whatsoever he shall say unto you.

Jesus also referred to Moses teaching about himself:

Joh 5:45 Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father: there is one that accuseth you, even Moses, in whom ye trust.

Joh 5:46 For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me: for he wrote of me.

Joh 5:47 But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?

The Old Testament prophet, Jeremiah prophesied that one day, God’s Laws (Mosaic Law) would be written upon our hearts; speaking that God’s spirit would join to our heart and his Words we would hide in our hearts (spirits).

Jer 31:33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.

After what days will this happen? It has to mean after the Day of Pentecost.

Heb 8:10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:

Heb 10:14 For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.

Heb 10:15 Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before,

Heb 10:16 This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;

Heb 10:17 And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.

Jesus had talked with Moses and Elijah at his transfiguration, before Calvary. So it is evident that Moses knew and Expected Jesus ‘presence to come and rescue their souls from Abraham’s Bosom; Satan’s prison. I believe one of the first things that Moses said to Jesus at that transfiguration was to apologize to Jesus for his disobedience of striking the rock twice instead of speaking to it; which we believe was the reason Jesus had to stay in Hell until the third day.

Mat 17:1 And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart,

Mat 17:2 And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light.

Mat 17:3 And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him.

Mat 17:4 Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.

Mat 17:5 While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.

Mat 17:6 And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face, and were sore afraid.

Mat 17:7 And Jesus came and touched them, and said, Arise, and be not afraid.

Mat 17:8 And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no man, save Jesus only.

Mat 17:9 And as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying, Tell the vision to no man, until the Son of man be risen again from the dead.
